    Calvary Lenah Valley Maternity Unit is seeking a passionate and skilled International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) to join our dedicated breastfeeding support team. This position forms part of a job‑share arrangement, working collaboratively with our experienced Lactation Consultants to deliver high‑quality, family‑centred care.

    We offer flexible, negotiable hours across our Monday–Friday lactation clinic, supporting both inpatients and outpatients. Whether you are seeking a permanent role or casual work, we welcome your application.

     

    About the Role

    As a Lactation Consultant within our BFHI‑accredited private hospital, you will provide advanced, evidence‑based lactation care that supports families in achieving their feeding goals. You will work closely with maternity, neonatal, and medical teams to ensure care is consistent, compassionate, and aligned with BFHI principles.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct comprehensive lactation assessments and develop individualised feeding plans

    • Provide support for complex breastfeeding challenges

    • Deliver antenatal and postnatal breastfeeding education

    • Facilitate breastfeeding classes, workshops, and support groups

    • Ensure all practice aligns with BFHI standards and the WHO/UNICEF Ten Steps

    • Participate in BFHI audits, quality improvement, and policy development

    • Collaborate with midwives, nurses, obstetricians, paediatricians, and neonatologists

    • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

     

    What You Bring

    Essential:

    • Current IBCLC certification

    • Experience in maternity, neonatal, or maternal–infant health

    • Strong understanding of BFHI standards

    • Excellent communication, assessment, and problem‑solving skills

    • Ability to work independently within a private hospital environment

    Desirable:

    • Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife qualification

    • Experience in a BFHI‑accredited facility

    • Experience delivering parent education programs

    • Understanding of private hospital workflows
