New Graduate Midwife (RM)

  • Provide compassionate and supportive care during labour, delivery, and postpartum periods.
  • Assist with neonatal nursery care, including monitoring newborns, feeding, and administering medications under supervision.

About the Role

Calvary John James Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate new graduate Midwife to join our dynamic maternity care team. This role will involve providing exceptional care to expectant mothers through prenatal, delivery, and postnatal phases, as well as supporting neonatal nursery care. The graduate Midwifery program includes rotations through post-natal, Special Care Nursery, and Birth Suite areas. Through support and reflection, the program empowers individuals to make well-informed, evidence-based decisions throughout their careers.

You will be provided with:

  • A dedicated Learning & Development Team of clinical facilitators and New Graduate preceptors who will support you throughout the 12-month program.
  • 3 full days of clinical orientation.
  • 2 graduate-specific study days.
  • Monthly clinical workshops.
  • Regular graduate midwife dedicated education sessions.
  • Supernumerary shifts on each rotation.
  • Access to scholarships for postgraduate study.

 

What You Bring

Mandatory:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Eagerness and interest in developing midwifery skills, including clinical expertise.
  • Australian or New Zealand citizenship, or permanent work rights in Australia.

Desirable:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in engaging with diverse stakeholders including expectant mothers and their families.
  • Proven capability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary maternity care team.
  • Proficiency in applying the Midwifery Process to deliver safe, evidence-based care to mothers and newborns in various clinical settings.
  • Passionate about contributing to a compassionate, mission-driven environment dedicated to maternal and newborn care.
  • Engagement in continuous professional development to enhance personal skills and support the growth of fellow midwifery professionals.
