Position available: Permanent Full-Time
Salary Classification: Nurse Manager, Grade 2 Year 1 - 2
Remuneration: $73.16 to $74.62 per hour + super + annual leave loading
As the Nurse Manager of Perioperative Services, you will be responsible for leading and managing the clinical team in collaboration with the Director of Anaesthetics and the Nursing Unit Manager of Operating Theatre. In this role, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care within Calvary Mater Newcastle (CMN) Perioperative Services, with the aim of optimising health outcomes for the community.
You will oversee, coordinate, and lead the delivery of perioperative nursing services across the operating suite, anaesthetics, recovery, and day surgery units. This includes maintaining appropriate staffing profiles aligned with service demands and effectively managing workforce resources to support optimal service provision.
In addition, you will be accountable for the efficient management of operating suite resources, ensuring both budgetary targets and service delivery outcomes are achieved. Working collaboratively with the Waitlist Coordinator and Operations Manager – Surgical Services, you will support effective waitlist management and contribute to achieving key performance indicators (KPIs).

Selection criteria (Essential)
- Registered Nurse authorised to practise by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) with post graduate qualifications in Perioperative Nursing.
- Possession of tertiary management qualifications (or equivalent) or currently enrolled in a management program.
- Extensive experience in managing an operating theatre environment and demonstrated ability to effectively exercise leadership in a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills, computer literacy, experience in quality improvement and in budget preparation and financial management
- Experience and involvement with the National Safety and Quality Health Standards.
