The Principal Connectivity Engineer is a senior, hands-on technical leader responsible for the architecture, implementation, optimisation, and operational support of Calvary's enterprise connectivity platforms.
The role provides expert technical leadership across SD-WAN, firewalls, wireless networking (WiFi), load balancing, and core network infrastructure. It leads the delivery of complex technical initiatives, drives continuous improvement of connectivity services, and serves as the highest level of technical escalation within the Connectivity Engineering team.
As a deeply technical engineering role, the Principal Connectivity Engineer remains actively engaged in solution design, engineering, troubleshooting, and service optimisation. The majority of the role is focused on designing, building, and enhancing enterprise connectivity capabilities, with people leadership limited to technical mentoring and guidance rather than formal people management.
- Lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of enterprise network solutions.
- Serve as the senior technical authority for SD-WAN, firewalls, WiFi, and load balancing.
- Perform hands-on configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, and major incident remediation.
- Drive network standardisation, automation, and platform simplification.
- Produce technical designs, implementation plans, and operational documentation.
- Deliver strategic network transformation initiatives (SD-WAN, WiFi, firewalls, load balancers, cloud connectivity).
- Provide Level 3/4 support and improve reliability through root cause analysis and permanent fixes.
- Ensure network platforms remain secure, resilient, compliant, and supported.
- Mentor engineers, establish engineering standards, and review technical designs.
- Provide technical leadership and advisory support throughout project lifecycles and to senior stakeholders.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in enterprise network engineering.
- Experience working within a mid-sized corporate organisation (500–5,000 users) operating multiple sites and critical business services.
- Extensive hands-on experience designing and supporting:
- SD-WAN solutions
- Enterprise firewalls
- Enterprise WiFi platforms
- Application delivery controllers (Load Balancers)
- Strong troubleshooting capability across complex multi-vendor environments.
- Experience implementing connectivity solutions in production environments.
- Strong understanding of:
- Routing and Switching
- BGP and OSPF
- Network Security
- Cloud Networking
- VPN Technologies
- DNS and DHCP
- Internet Connectivity
