The role:
The registered nurse is responsible for providing safe, effective, and appropriate patient care in a patient-focused environment. The role will be within the Orthopaedic/ENT specialty ward at St. Vincent's campus. Surgeries will range from simple day procedures and ENT overnight cases to full joint/bilateral joint replacements. The Orthopaedic/ENT admissions consist of both paediatric and adult consumers. On-site Paediatric training and support will be provided to successful candidates. The role will entail rotational shift work, seven days a week, at 0.8 FTE or 64 hours per fortnight. Opportunity to negotiate FTE/hours for successful candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Practice within both the national regulatory framework and in accordance with Calvary and relevant government health policies and procedures.
- Provide safe and effective clinical care for primarily surgical and occasional medical patients, both pre- and post-operatively.
- Undertake clinical procedures and interventions such as drain removal, IDC insertion, invasive device management, and wound management.
- Monitoring and interpreting vital signs and clinical data, and recognising and responding promptly to clinical deterioration.
- Administer and monitor medication therapies.
- Work collaboratively with Allied Health team members in the clinical management and discharge planning of the consumer.

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
- A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission-based organisation
- Demonstrated recent clinical experience in an acute care and/or hospital setting
- Three years of surgical nursing experience (desirable)
