
Calvary Graduate Midwifery Program

With the consolidation of private maternity services in Hobart, Calvary is proud to offer a formalised and structured Graduate Midwifery Program. This six-month program supports newly qualified midwives in their critical transition from student to confident practitioner — backed by experienced midwives, educators and a multidisciplinary team.
This is your opportunity to consolidate your new midwifery skills in a supportive, collaborative and professionally rewarding environment, with exposure to a wide range of maternity experiences.

Key dates and information:
Start Date: 1 July 2025
Program duration: Six months
Minimum FTE: 0.6
Support structure:
- Dedicated Clinical Midwifery Educator and Clinical Nurse Facilitators
- Monthly one-on-one support sessions
- Structured performance reviews at three and six months
- Access to senior midwives on every shift
Rotations:
- Five months across antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care
- Supernumerary model for labour ward experience
- Three weeks in the Special Care Nursery
- Three days with lactation consultants
Study & education:
- One dedicated study day (one month into the programs)
- Topics include postpartum haemorrhage, pre-eclampsia, shoulder dystocia, neonatal emergencies, and more
- Study days open to broader maternity team for shared learning
