Calvary is seeking a passionate and organised Community Engagement Officer to lead and support our volunteer programs across Calvary John James and Bruce Private Hospitals.
This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys working with people, building strong community connections, and coordinating volunteers in a dynamic healthcare environment.
About the role
Reporting to the Regional Community Engagement Manager, the Community Engagement Officer is responsible for the recruitment, coordination, supervision and support of volunteers across both hospital sites. The role also contributes to broader community engagement initiatives and partnerships that support Calvary’s mission and values.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and supervise hospital volunteer programs across two sites
- Coordinate volunteer recruitment, interviewing, onboarding and induction
- Manage volunteer rosters, leave, training, reviews and recognition activities
- Maintain compliance, accreditation requirements and accurate volunteer records
- Build strong working relationships with hospital staff and volunteer teams
- Support community engagement initiatives and partnerships
- Contribute to quality improvement, reporting and administrative processes
- Promote Calvary’s mission, values and volunteer programs internally and externally
About you
You are an organised and people-focused professional with strong communication skills and experience supporting volunteers or community programs. You enjoy balancing operational responsibilities with relationship building and are confident working across multiple stakeholders.
Essential criteria
- Strong alignment with Calvary’s values of healing, hospitality, stewardship and respect
- High-level interpersonal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated experience leading and supporting volunteers, including recruitment, onboarding, training and recognition
- Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Experience managing compliance, risk and WHS responsibilities
- Ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Desirable
- Experience in health, community or aged care settings
- Experience in a Human Resources or volunteer coordination role
