About the role
Help shape the provision of spiritual and pastoral care of residents, families and staff at two of our Hunter sites - Calvary Tanilba Shores and Calvary Mt Carmel, ensuring their diverse spiritual and emotional needs are identified and responded to with exceptional sensitivity, compassion, knowledge and skill.
As a member of the care team in the delivery of services to residents and their family members, you will be responsible for ensuring that the diverse pastoral and spiritual needs of residents, their families and staff are identified, prioritised and responded to in a timely manner. You will be part of an integrated team of people working within an established and agreed framework supporting the resident to live their best life.
As the Pastoral Care Practitioner some of your main duties will include:
- Providing spiritual and emotional care support to residents, according to established triage priorities
- As required, providing spiritual care support to residents' family members and to staff
- Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with key stakeholders
While we are seeking an experienced Pastoral Care Practitioner, early career practitioners or those wishing to start their career in pastoral care are also encouraged to apply for a supervised practitioner role. Support to complete clinical pastoral care training is available for those applying as a supervised practitioner.
About you
You are a highly engaged professional Pastoral Care Practitioner, seeking to up hold the dignity of people living in residential aged care and seeking to make a meaningful contribution to their wellbeing.
Rr experienced Pastoral Care Practitioners
- Recent experience working in a similar care role in aged care, health care or community care
- A tertiary qualification in pastoral care, spiritual direction, counselling or similar
- Clinical Pastoral Education and/or equivalent
- Established skills in preparation, creation, leadership and facilitation of meaningful rituals
- Eligibility for SCA certified membership
For those applying for a Supervised Practitioner role
- Recent experience working in a care role in aged care, health care or community care
- A commitment to undertake Clinical Pastoral Education to attain a qualification
- A genuine desire to commence a career in Pastoral Care
