About you
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Calvary North Adelaide team as an Oncology and Haematology Clinical Educator. It is a level 3 RN position permanent part-time at 0.5 FTE. Based at Calvary’s flagship hospital, Calvary North Adelaide, this position has the capability to enhance and further develop staff in the care of oncology inpatients and day oncology treatment.
In collaboration with the Learning and Development Site Lead, and the Clinical Managers of St Helen's Ward and Kimberley House at Calvary North Adelaide the Clinical Educator - Oncology and Haematology will lead and further develop the skills for nurses in the delivery of a range of treatment for both oncology and haematology patients. The position also has a significant role in supporting graduate, post graduate and undergraduate oncology students. In addition the successful candidate will work collaboratively with the wider L&D team, to ensure that mandatory training and orientation for cancer nurses is contextualised to the roles and department and will be expected to deliver these components.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivery of specialist education to support the staff in;
- Kimberley House Day Oncology/Haematology
- St Helen’s Acute Oncology/Haematology Ward
- Planning and implementation of education programs to develop staff and build nursing capability
- Simulation training including emergencies
- Mandatory training and competency assessments for core skills in keeping with Calvary, NSQHS, and EVIQ.
- Facilitating Graduate Oncology/Haematology program
What you bring
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Nursing (BN) or equivalent (e.g., Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
- Postgraduate qualification in Oncology/Haematology Nursing, Education, or a related specialty (e.g., Graduate Diploma or Master's preferred)
Registration and Licensure:
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Additional certification in chemotherapy and cytotoxic drug administration (e.g., ADAC)
Clinical Experience:
- Extensive clinical experience in oncology/haematology nursing, typically a minimum of 3–5 years
- Proven expertise in chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and supportive care for oncology patients
- Experience in patient education and counselling
Educational & Teaching Skills:
- Demonstrated experience in clinical teaching, staff education, or training
- Ability to develop and deliver educational programs, workshops, and training modules
- Skills in assessment, feedback, and competency development
Knowledge & Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of oncology/haematology treatments, protocols, and emerging therapies
- Strong understanding of Australian healthcare policies and standards related to oncology care
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with advancements in oncology nursing
